As the counting for Karnataka’s election began on Saturday (May 13), the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is currently in a do-or-die position where Congress is already overall leading with 112 seats, while BJP and JD (S) on 74 and 25 seats respectively. Congress ministers and supporters were seen celebrating seeing their lead.
The BJP, however, is leading in Udupi, Bangalore South, and Chincholi. As per media reports, the BJP improved its vote share compared to the last time.
BJP led by Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai rejected the exit poll predictions claiming that the saffron party would get the numbers to form the government in the state again. He said, “Every exit poll is showing a different figure, but the complete ground report has given an absolute majority for the BJP. Exit poll results are not cent per cent perfect… Let us wait for the exact results on May 13.”
On May 10, the exit polls predicted that in Karnataka Elections 2023, Congress would claim a comfortable and easy win by securing some 94-114 seats, while BJP and JD(S) would score 74-98 and some 26-36 seats.

3. Arun Kumar, Raybag – BJP – 51,860 votes.
4. M. Ashwath Narayan, Malleshwaram – BJP – 90,000 votes.
5. B.A. Basavaraja, Krishnarajpet – BJP – 77,959 votes.
