Lukaku Inspires Inter To 4-2 Win Over Sassuolo

May 13, (RGEWILL) – Inter Milan continued their impressive form this week, securing a 4-2 victory over Sassuolo at San Siro on Saturday.

Romelu Lukaku was the star of the show, scoring a fantastic birthday brace to extend the team’s winning streak to seven games in all competitions. Inter took full advantage of their city rivals Milan’s defeat at Spezia, moving up to third in the Serie A table and increasing their lead over Milan to five points with just three games left to play.

The match got off to a controversial start, with a VAR review disallowing Sassuolo’s goal due to an offside call. Inter had a goal of their own ruled out for offside minutes later, but they soon took the lead thanks to Lukaku’s impressive long-range strike. The hosts doubled their advantage after Ruan Tressoldi put the ball in his own net before Lautaro Martinez scored via a deflection to make it 3-0.

Sassuolo did manage to pull two goals back through Matheus Henrique and Davide Frattesi, but Lukaku’s second goal of the game secured the win for Inter. The victory puts them in a strong position to secure UEFA Champions League qualification with just three games left to play.

Inter will now turn their attention to their second leg against Milan, where they will look to secure their place in the final of the competition on Tuesday while Sassuolo host Monza on Friday.
