The new manager of Bayern Munich, Thomas Tuchel started his reign at the club on a high as he lead his new team to defeat his former club, Borussia Dortmund at the Allianz Arena.While Bayern Munich were defeating Borussia Dortmund 4-1 in the German Bundesliga, Chelsea, the most recent former club of Tuchel were being humiliated by lowly-rated Aston Villa in the Premier League.
Since Graham Potter, the English manager that replaced Thomas Tuchel at Chelsea mid-season, took charge of the club, the west London side have been experiencing a steady nosedive despite heavy investment in new players.
However, they were expected to beat Villa at Stamford Bridge to start the last phase of the Premier League season on a high but that wasn’t the case.
Aston Villa took the lead as early as the 18th minute through the boots of Ollie Watkins and grabbed all three points with John McGinn’s 56th-minute strike.
The 2-0 defeat has dropped Chelsea down to the 11th spot with 38 points in 28 games, 11 points away from 4th placed Tottenham Hotspur.
As for Tuchel at Bayern Munich this evening, the German tactician ensured his team return to the top of the league with a 4-2 win over Dortmund.
Bayern Munich took the lead thanks to an own goal from Gregor Kobel in the 13th minute. Thomas Müller doubled Bayern’s lead in the 18th minute and made it a 3-0 lead in the 23rd. While Kingsley Coman scored the 4th goal in the 50th minute.
However, Dortmund didn’t go down so easily, they gave it a hard fight, especially in the last 20 minutes. In the 72nd minute, their pressure on Bayern paid off as Emre Can gave Dortmund hope for a comeback via the penalty spot.
Donyell Malen scored the second goal for Dortmund in the 90th minute but that was how far they could go in the game as coach Thomas Tuchel starts his reign at Bayern Munich on a winning note.
With the win, Bayern are now topping the German Bundesliga table with 55 points in 26 games, two points above second-placed Dortmund.
