Femi Falana, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria and human rights lawyer, has announced that he will provide legal services to Seun Kuti, an Afrobeat musician who allegedly assaulted a police officer.
Falana confirmed that Kuti had enough evidence to defend himself and that he would turn himself in to the police on Monday.
The Police Service Commission has demanded the immediate prosecution of Kuti, stating that no one has the right to assault a policeman in uniform and on official duty.
The commission hopes that Kuti’s arraignment will serve as a deterrent to others.
If convicted, Kuti could face up to three years in jail.
