Church speaks on accidentA statement from the church indicated that 11 people survived with varying degrees of injuries, while 25 had lost their lives.

“Meanwhile, the Church will provide material and moral assistance to the affected families and victims. The Church is yet to receive an official report from the Zambia Police and the Road Transport and Safety Agency,” the statement read in part.Reports by Zambian media, Zambia Reports, indicated that the accident happened in Southern Zambia, and the deceased included 24 women and one man.

The driver is among those who are nursing injuries.

20 women die in accident In September 2022, at least 20 women also died after the vehicle they were travelling in lost control and overturned in the same country.

The 23 victims were said to be part of the women from The United Church of Zambia who were heading home after attending a church conference when they met their deaths in the wee hours of Monday, September 19, 2022.

According to a statement from the church and other media outlets, the vehicle was descending Chaushi Hill, which is 780km North of Lusaka, when it lost control leading to the tragic accident.

“The victims, members of Women’s Christian Fellowship (WCW), were part of the 58 mothers who were travelling back from the consistory conference which was held at Munwa in Nsama consistory, over the weekend,” the statement of the UCZ said.
