WARNING: This story is not for sensitive readers: A father watched in horror as a doctor delivering his newborn baby pulled her head off. According to Daily Mail, the Brazilian doctor climbed on on top of the mother’s stomach before doing the unthinkable.
The incident occurred earlier this month at the Hospital das Clinicas da UFMG, in the Santa Efigenia neighborhood of Belo Horizonte, the capital of Minas Gerais state, Brazil.
According to the traumatised family of the baby, she was still alive when she started to emerge from her mother’s body, but that’s not all – they claim the hospital tried pressuring them into signing some documents to cover up the horrific incident. The baby’s mother, 33-year-old Ranielly Coelho Santos, was hospitalised on 28 April and her labour was induced not long before the unidentified obstetrician called the father to observe the birth more closely.
DOCTOR INVESTIGATED FOR NEWBORN’S DEATH
The baby’s father has told Brazilian police that he saw his daughter blink her eyes and open her mouth before the doctor essentially decapitated her, which is proof that she was alive during the incident. The doctor is now under investigation.
The family said it received an apology from the doctor for what happened during the delivery of the baby and was later approached by a social worker from the hospital, informing them the facility would pay for all the burial costs – but only if they agreed to sign a waiver that claimed that an autopsy had already been performed on the child and that it would not be forwarded to the Legal Medical Institute (IML)” for further analysis.
BRAZILIAN HOSPITAL ‘DEVASTATED’ BY GRUESOME INCIDENT
The hospital has expressed regret over the incident and has seemingly launched its own investigation to get to the bottom of what transpired on the day of the child’s birth. In the meantime, the facility is awaiting an autopsy report, which would help determine the way forward.
