Assistant coach Dillon Sheppard on Saturday confirmed Kaizer Chiefs head coach Arthur Zwane suffered a facial injury after being struck by a projectile thrown by disgruntled fans following a 1-0 defeat to SuperSport United.
Gamphani Zungu scored the decisive goal of the match as former head coach Gavin Hunt effectively ended any hopes Chiefs had of qualifying for CAF Champions League of Confederation Cup football.

“No, no it’s got nothing to do with him being here,” Sheppard confirmed when queried on whether the result was the cause of Zwane’s post-match absence.
Unfortunately he picked up a bit of an injury to his eye.
“I don’t know how the incident happened, I just saw him now putting some ice on his eye.
“So I have to find out the details when I get back to the changing room.”
Footage had shown irate Chiefs fans hurling objects towards Zwane with club officials and police stewards needing to escort the 49-year-old from the Royal Bafokeng Stadium pitch.
