Governor of Lagos, Babajide Sanwo-Olu says the economy of the state cannot be managed by someone who lacks the requisite experience in governance and leadership.
He made this statement while speaking during an interview session with Nigeria Info FM today.
The incumbent governor’s assertion comes days ahead of the 18th March Gubernatorial and state assembly elections. At the polls, Sanwo-Olu will contest with Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour of the Labour Party (LP), and Abdul-Azeez Adediran of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the governorship position.

Sanwolu who said he is the most qualified of all the candidates noted that the economy of the state is crucial to the nation.
He also added that the largest black city in the world, can not be driven by emotion. The APC Guber candidate said, “It will certainly be driven by the people, who choose to have the capacity.”
The governor who compared himself with the youngest contender in the gubernatorial election, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour explained that he has both private and public experience to move the state forward.
Revealing his portfolio, Sanwolu said, “At age 40, I left the banking industry as a general manager, heading investment banking. I had been in that sector for 15 years prior to then. I have had to develop competence and experience in very strong structured investment banking.”
The APC governor also noted that he had served as treasurer in three banks, worked four years in the public sector and had served as a commissioner of economic planning.
According to him, he was an adviser to a sitting governor at age 40.
He went further to ask other his counterparts contesting for the position what experience they were bringing to the table.
Sanwolu said, “What have you done in your own life, what is the pedigree, and what experience you are bringing to the table? What level of knowledge do you have that this job entails? What are your previous roles?”
